Internet Filtering
Tips & Tricks
If you have
difficulties getting a login dialog box from the R3000 filter:
- Alter the security settings on your browser. Instructions
for the latest version of both XP and IE follow:
- Open IE
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options
- On the Security Tab, click Custom Level
- In the Downloads section of the list, under Automatic prompting
for downloads, click Enable.
- In the ActiveX controls and plug-ins section of the list,
under Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls, click Enable.
- Click OK.
- Visit www.java.com and upgrade to the latest version of java (the R3000
GUI requires the latest version).
What to do if your browser requires you to reinstall java each time you
access the R3000:
Visit www.java.com and upgrade to the latest version of java
outside of your browser (since the interface requires this latest version).
If you've made filtering changes and find massive overblocking:
Never set uncategorized site to "Block." When setting filtering
categories to block and pass, make certain that the radio button for uncategorized
sites is set to "Pass."
Allowing Copy, Cut and Paste operations on the R3000 GUI:
Your Web browser has a directory dedicated
as the home of the Java application. Add these lines to the /lib/security/java.policy
file (which may actually be in your C:\Documents and Settings\user\ directory):
grant codeBase "http:///-" { permission java.awt.AWTPermission
"accessClipboard"; };
