Planning Board

The Foster Planning Board consists of seven members. The current membership is:

Marsha Bowden

Michael Carpenter
Helen Hardy, Secretary

Patricia Moreau, Vice Chair

Julia Parmentier, Chair

Planning Board Sub-Committee

The Planning Board maintains a sub-committee used to address special projects. Presently, the sub-committee is inactive.
The primary focus of the Planning Board Subcommittee through 2003-2004 was to address the Town's affordable housing concerns.

Grants

Ongoing grants programs within the Planning Department include:

Community Development Block Grant:
Each year the Planning Department works with Western Rhode Island Home repair to obtain grant funding from Rhode Island's Office of Municipal Affairs.

Additional grant funds will be available for Foster's food pantry and for home repairs.

Foster Comprehensive Plan Update

Following over two years of work by the Planning Department and the Planning Board and input from all of the Town's Departments, boards and volunteers, the Town of Foster submitted their Comprehensive Plan to the Office of State Planning in March of 2004.  Final approval was received from the State in November 2006.

Growth Phasing Ordinance

The Town Council adopted the Growth Phasing Ordinance on September 9, 2004.
